Travel has been a good salve for his overactive imagination, as he has a knack for looking at things sideways, to see what others do not. Some say it’s a gift, but it’s also a curse. Can you picture where his warped sense of self took him when he became a technical writer? What was he thinking?

Fortunately, he takes the time to focus on writing down his thoughts. He doesn’t do it to entertain others, but to entertain himself. This endeavor keeps him off the streets at night. At least when the moon isn’t full…

In addition to his work in Writing a Professional Life, Dzorlord: a Crossroads Adventure, and the After/Thought Literary journal, he has written as a journalist and essayist. What follows are stories—partly nonfiction, mostly creative—of what life is like in Asheville, North Carolina, his adopted hometown. These ideas that sprang into Mark’s brain unbidden, so of course he had to write them down and submit them to what was once known as the Asheville Blog, a site that no longer exists.
